I am sharing a copy of my letter I have sent to Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, Sec. William Janes-Florida Office of Drug Control, Florida State Senators and Florida State Legislatures: Support The Jennifer Act by writing, emailing or faxing your elected Governor, Senators and Representatives expressing the need for this law that will intervene and help save lives. See my Contacts page to get contact directory. Thank you. Sharon Blair
My daughter, Jennifer M. Reynolds/Gonzalez, died recently at age 29. I wrote an amendment:The Jennifer Act and am attaching it for your review, along with my website: www.TheJenniferAct.com
I am addressing the current and only law we have in Florida, the Marchman Act, it’s powerlessness and ineffectiveness and ways to improve this and help families in crisis save lives.
The laws changed when John Walsh, families of Terry Schivo and Jessica Lundsford had to experience death of a child to get attention to their plight. My daughter has died. I am an advocate for those who cannot help themselves. I am doing everything I can to bring change to the out dated Marchman Act and revise and update to The Jennifer Act.
I am working with Florida Office of Drug Control, Sec. William Janes and Fl. Senator Dennis Jones on revision of this law. Please feel free to contact Sec. William Janes at the Florida Capitol.
His number is: 1-850-414-9064
I believe this matter is urgent due to the fact people are dying. Without change in the law, families are left with no hope. I am bringing a solution to this ever growing need.
My experience dealing with the addicted for over a decade and using all Florida laws we have in place and losing my daughter have brought me to my knees in prayer and with God’s direction, helped me establish this new amendment: The Jennifer Act.
Thank you for your time. I appreciate your assistance.
